miss m, girlie girl, crafter, performer & mommy to dozens of
stuffed animals

does it have feathers? are there sequins? is it pink? if the answer yes, miss m is sure to be close by. this girl is all about the cute: wearing it, singing it, creating it. when i'm looking for things to do, i try to keep miss m in mind. she's 7 & rarely stops talking so anything that's interactive is perfect (i have just discovered that the best thing for us to do together is go grocery shopping; she can talk the whole time, there's plenty of visual stimulation & sometimes she even gets to buy something...i totally know what this means: in about 3 years we'll go from groceries to shoes, but i'll enjoy the groceries for now :)
a few years ago my step mom & i took miss m too see a ballet production of 'narnia' it was two & a half hours long & she made it happily for about 2 hours (that's one of the many ways that she & Q differ :). she is still talking about it, the girls, the costumes, the music... miss m is also insane for crafts, paint your own pottery was made for her (i have the ceramics & empty wallet to prove it) & she can imagine her way into any scenario.
if you see the 'miss m recommended' icon you can be sure it will involve getting crafty, princesses, glitter or a stage...

Q, climber, lego builder, inventor, whirling dervish of energy

this is Q. he's almost 10 & he's a boy, oh yes he is. if it's tall he'll climb it, if it's far he'll run for it, if you can stack it he'll build with it & if you can't do any of those things, he will invent something. he's also a lego star wars champ.
when i'm looking for things for our family to do i always try to keep in Q & his energy in mind. i know that taking him to see a ballet is not the best idea unless he has just run a few miles & is dead tired (about 10 minutes into his sister's dance recital he said 'is there, like, something else i can do right now?' :) . i know that boys often like to DO stuff so that's what i look for. i also think it would be good for him to see a ballet someday, good for him to sit still longer than 10 minutes without Minecrafting. i'm just not exactly ready to do that today...
look for the Q recommended icon if you've got a guy who is always on the go, loves legos or can't go a day without video games (we're working on that one...)
