Can you tell that we love Sprout Children's Expo so much? It is really such a neat opportunity for kids to create, make, curate & sell their own things. Today we're talking to Tammy whose daughter Ginny participated int he sale last year.
What did your child sell at Sprout Children's Expo?
Books that she wrote and illustrated herself as well as comic prints. She publishes her books using Create Space from Amazon and loves the opportunity to share them with others.
What do you feel like your child learned by doing Sprout Children's Expo? From selling her books, Ginny learned to engage others in conversation, to make eye contact, to say please and thank you, and to share her work with confidence. She'd always been on the shy side and had a hard time with all of these things so it was wonderful to have an opportunity to work on not just business skills but social skills.
What was your favorite part about having your child involved in the Expo?
I really enjoyed watching her make trades. She gladly shared her work with others and had fun supporting other kids as well.
What was the hardest part about doing the Expo?
We struggled with making the best use of our space. We needed to work more on display options.
What would you do differently?
We would bring more snacks. Food is necessary to make it through the event.
What advice would you give someone who is considering doing the Expo this year?
It's a lot of fun and a worthwhile experience. Give it a try with a friend to maximize the fun.
Ginny's books looks so great!
