(We're super happy to partner with MGM, Warner Bros. Pictures for this post) She came to us & said, 'I want to do it. I want to try out for the big soccer team.' At first we were not sure. Could she do it? What if she worked so hard & didn't make it? What if she worked so hard & DID make it & then we would have to spend the next year traveling around the state for soccer games? (Honestly, this was the biggest hesitation we had. We like our weekends. We like them a lot.) In the end we decided that if she wanted to do the work, we would find a way to pay for it & we would give up some of our weekends to travel. Some. & that's how I found myself, on a hot May evening sitting on a hill near the soccer field, chatting with other soccer moms, watching tryouts. Merra, who is 12, had been nervous before each practice but she really worked hard. It's weird to be so invested in your kid that the day they announced who made the team, you just keep refreshing your computer, waiting for her name to pop up. I didn't say it was good or healthy. It's weird. because what would happen if she didn't make it on the team? Nothing. She would still be a great kid, she would still play soccer in the fall on the team she's been with, we wouldn't feel any different about her. & yet. It was totally nerve wracking. I felt pretty silly but it's hard to help it. You just want them to get the things they work hard for. In the end she made the team & the work that she did in tryouts was just the beginning. We are super happy for her, excited that she gave it her best & went the distance! & speaking of going the distance... :) "But it ain't about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.” -Rocky Balboa PRIDE. LEGACY. FAMILY. This fall, there is more to lose than a title. In Theaters Wednesday, November 21st Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family's past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what's worth fighting for, and discover that nothing's more important than family. Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can't escape your history. Whoa! Adding that one to the Movies We Need To Watch list, for sure! Michael B Jordan is always a fave! We'd love to hear about a time that you or your kiddo went the distance!
