I am mom to two boys, one of which is cautious, the other is fearless beyond words. Being 6 and 3, its been pretty low stakes so far. BUT! When I was in college, I thought it would be hilarious to pull prank on an unassuming guy who carelessly left his bike unchained in front of Dairy Queen. I ran over to his bike to try to "pretend to steal it" (WHAT WAS I THINKING???) and he caught me! I was lucky enough to talk him down and convince him that I wasn't really going to steal his bike, and I was able to smooth it over by offering to buy him an ice cream cone...which he swiftly changed from a small to a large. (Hellooooo...how did he not think quickly enough to ask for a Blizzard!) Anyway, I escaped the incident unscathed and to this day, I wonder if he ever tells the story of the crazy girl who tried to run off with his bike!

My six year old loves to impress...so when guests were over at our home, he Spidey-climbed up an open door frame (held up by his legs and arms in between each wall) and said, "Hey, look!" He then jumped high, somersaulted in the air and landed on his bum, looking completely surprised that he actually did it. Our reply was, "Okay, THAT WAS AWESOME, but...NEVER do that again!"

My eight year old is an extremely cautious kid which is mostly a parent's dream but sometimes he declines to try even when he can do it. One day last summer we were sitting by a creek with his aunt and uncle. It was about 5 or six feet wide and deep but very slow moving. His uncle said, "Jump it!" as he stood up hill on the slight embankment. Unsurprisingly, he said no. So we went on chatting as he ran up and down the embankment feigning jumping but always stopping at the edge. Finally he called over to us, "I'm doing it!" We all looked just in time to see him leap across the creek, barely landing it and tumbling onto the other side. He was so surprised at himself and we cheered like crazy. When it was time to cross back, he walked up to the bridge - once was enough!

Life so far has been filled with many thrilling and daring moments. Probably the most exciting was almost eight years ago my husband and I adopted a sibling group of 7 out of foster care. Now everyday is filled with adventure and joy as we watch our kiddos grow. Definitely worth the risk and never a dull moment!

My oldest, who just turned 5, is pretty terrified of the water, while her 2 year old sister is too confident. We went to Triangle Lake last summer and Maycie climbed up to the top of a tall water slide and went down with full trust that her aunt (and life jacket) would save her. She was a bit hysterical that water got in her face, but she did it again! Sooo proud.
And, my most daring was joining a Hot Mommas dance class and performing, fancy dance costume and all, in front of a couple hundred people. I didn't take dance when I was younger, so learning technique, stage marking, etc. was all new to me. I'm in my second year now and love it!

The most daring event of my life was traveling to Mexico City with 3 kids and not speaking Spanish. my husband who does speak Spanish couldn't make the trip. I just trusted my husbands family who doesn't speak English. Car seats are optional there & so are seat belts. 2 weeks was a wild ride-literally!

When I was at OSU, my roommates and I were always pulling pranks of some sort.
We lived at Azalea House and we had rooms we shared but we all slept in triple bunks in a cold air dorm.
One year for Halloween my mom sent me a card that meowed. We hid the card under someone's bed. I think we went to Eugene for the night after we did that.
Another time we bought empty gelatin capsules at the drug store. We filled them with RED cool aid. Then we unscrewed the shower heads and put a handful in each shower head. Needless to say it was a bit Red Wedding ish. We had our own private bathroom downstairs.
I could go on and on. It was a blast!
