Getting to Know: The Nutcracker Escape Room

Escape Rooms are super popular with adults but did you know that we have one here in Lane County that is aimed at kids ages 6 & up? & it has a Nutcracker theme! Too fun!
Today we get to hear all about it from Jenny, the owner of Escape the Room Oregon.
EHi Jenny!
Tell us about The Nutcracker Escape Room...

The Nutcracker Escape Room is our special family Christmas room.  We have adapted our Spy Vs Spy room with new puzzles, holiday decor and of course a new storyline.  All of our rooms are fully immersive.  Spy vs Spy takes place in a 1980's themed apartment belonging to a Russian spy.  Transforming it into the Nutcracker just made sense and it has been so much fun to decorate and theme everything for a retro Christmas vibe.

The idea for the Nutcracker Escape Room came from....
We knew we wanted to do a special room for Christmas and while we had a million ideas, this one felt special.  The storyline was fun and something that we could add a lot of surprises and twists and turns to make it very entertaining.

My personal favorite part of Nutcracker Escape Room is...
the puzzles.  We design and build all of our own puzzles.  The team created some really beautiful and fun puzzles that fit really well with the theme and storyline.  They are so unique and strike the perfect balance of challenging but doable.

Parents should know...
  • Escape rooms are really best for kids 6 and up.  You can book as a private party or as an open booking.  As an open booking, if there are open spots other people can book in.  You really have to know your kids and decide if you should have a private party or not.
  • When you bring your kids in, listen to them.  They often have the right answers to puzzles or at least the right idea.  They don't fall victim to fixed thinking the way us adults do.  Don't discount them in the room.
  • Kids also make great finders and part of an escape room is searching.  Teams with top times on our leaderboard often have kids with them.
  • Doing escape rooms with your kids is priceless, and really what made us want to open our own.  It's hard to find something fun to do that everyone will enjoy.  But more than that, it brings families together.  When we did our first escape room with our kids, I loved seeing their thinking process and celebrating with them when they figured something out.  It's really special.

Kids should know...
Not everyone wins the room.  Escape rooms are supposed to be a challenge and if everyone was guaranteed a win, it would be.  Count each thing you find and each puzzle you solve as a win....because it is.  If you solve the room in less than 60 minutes, that's awesome.  If don't, it's ok too.

My best tip for solving the Nutcracker Escape Room is...
Well, that would ruin the challenge!  But, I will say that the trick to being successful with any escape room is communication and teamwork.  Oh, and never giving up.

The youngest age for the Nutcracker Escape Room is...
6 for public/open bookings but you know your child best.  If you think a private booking would be best (meaning no one else can book in with you) then it's a good idea to do that.  If you do have a private booking, the room is yours.

To finish the Nutcracker Escape Room it usually takes...
Well, you only get 60 minutes in the room.  You may finish and you may not.  It really depends on how well you and your team communicate and work together to solve the puzzles.  Some people might finish in 45 minutes and some might not finish at all.

The best way to sign up for the Nutcracker Escape Room is...
Book online at EscapetheRoomOregon.  It has all of the open time slots in real time so you can see what is available and book it right from the site.  If you are arranging a special function, group, or teambuilding event, we recommend that you give us a call at 541-726-3836

& one more thing...
Be careful.  Escape rooms are addicting.  If you do develop an addiction, not to worry.  We have several other rooms for you to try.  Each of our rooms are unique, challenging, and a lot of fun.

Thanks so much, Jenny! We love the idea of doing an escape room with kids because of the reason you said, so often they think differently than adults! Thanks so much for making one just for kiddos in Lane County!

This is one of the most interesting escape rooms that I have participated in. I think the amount of stuff that I was confused by were just amazing. If you ask me, there is nothing that you can improve upon it. Well, this is just my personal take on it, but it was just super cool. I want to do it all over again, and this time I will make it so that I complete it faster than anyone else.

I run a play school since ten years. It is nice to spend a lot of time with kids .I am a teacher and I have large experience about child caring . Children need something attractive to learn. I watch many videos related to child learning online. I use a free VPN for cyber security.
