Today we are talking to Aloma Murray about the Sprout Children's Business Expo. Around GoMomGo HQ we are super excited about the Expo. It is going to be such a fun event! The Sprout Children's Expo is.... an opportunity for children to experience what it's like to be a vendor, to create a product or service and offer it for sale to the public. This experience is meant to encourage kids to explore their passions and think about how they can create their own income doing something they love. I got the idea to start the Expo when... I wanted to create an experience for my kids to be their own boss and earn some of their own money. I realized there wasn't much out there as far as education and encouragement for becoming a business owner. It is such an important option kids should know about and have the opportunity to explore. I wanted to focus on child run businesses because... I think kids are amazing and creative and I think it's fantastic to help empower them now, while they are young, and provide them with opportunities to be in charge and make decisions and make mistakes. The Expo is for people who... want to shop for unique locally made items made by kids, and for kids want to create a product or offer a service for sale. The Expo is for kids who want to explore entrepreneurship and experience what it's like to be the vendor. I want shoppers to know that... the Expo is going to be full of amazing items. These kids are so talented and creative. I will be doing my holiday shopping at this event for sure and will be so excited to share not only the items with the people I gift them to but also the story behind who made it, how old they are and what their goals are for their business. I encourage people to come and shop for themselves, for their holiday gifts, and particularly to take the time to chat with these kids. Ask them what their goals are, how they came up with the idea, why they chose to make this particular item this way. My big dream for the Expo is... I would love to see this become a semi-annual event with ongoing workshops and education throughout the year. You should come to the Expo because... it will be a one of kind opportunity to purchase local kid made products and support and encourage them. Bring your kids and maybe it will inspire them to see other children their age making and selling their own products. It will be inspiring and a lot of fun. Sprout Children's Business Expo
