If there’s one thing that Lane County gets right, it’s our Pumpkin Patches and Christmas Tree Farms! That’s why, in our recent compilation of Fall activities and must-see places, we HAD to tell you about one of the best-kept secrets tucked away in sleepy Pleasant Hill… Northern Lights Christmas Tree Farm!
Northern Lights Christmas Tree Farm (and Pumpkin Patch!) is a local, family-owned business, run by Bob and Lynn Schutte, just south-east of Eugene in Pleasant Hill. While well-known for their beautiful selection of Christmas Trees, they also grow award-winning pumpkins and beautiful Dahlias. In addition, they raise cattle, pigs, chickens and turkeys. Bob and Lynn also rent out their gorgeous riverside home for Summer weddings, which can accommodate up to 300 guests.
Upon arriving, you will be welcomed to the farm as you drive past the turkeys and dahlias. Sprawling greens speckled with interactive, kid-friendly experiences invite families to discover all of the details of farm life. A crackling fire to gather around, live music in the background (on the weekends) and women spinning wool yarn from the sheep they’ve raised. The Schutte’s help to support the community by hosting local vendors that sell concessions, gifts, and even homemade fudge! There is truly something to delight the senses around every corner!
The main attraction of the farm is Colonial Harvest Days! From the famous “Hay-Flower” (a replica of The Mayflower made of hay!) to Pilgrim Bob’s hayrides, which take you on a tour throughout the farm to see the animals, pick a pumpkin and learn about the local agriculture. You won’t find a more informative tour! It’s a bumpy, fun ride with a many surprises along the way!
We love that so much detail has gone into making this a special place. You will appreciate the amenities and photo-ops that make this a family tradition for years to come.
